The mind behind Understand Quran
Passionate about using technology to make the Quran accessible to everyone. As a Google Certified UX Designer and Hafiz-e-Quran, I bring together a deep love for the Quran with a commitment to beautiful, user-centered design. Understand Quran was built with the vision of helping Muslims around the world connect more deeply with the words of Allah through a data-driven, beautifully crafted learning experience.
The story of Understand Quran began a long time ago with a profound, yet simple goal: creating a specialized search engine to explore the Mutashabihat (similar and repeated verses) of the Quran. As I delved deeper into the data, I expanded the engine's capabilities to track individual repeated words. Today, that engine has evolved into a comprehensive analytical tool that encompasses the entire Quran—capable of instantly locating any word, tracking its exact frequency, and identifying every single place it appears in the holy text.
During my analysis with this search engine, a remarkable statistical pattern emerged. While there are approximately 78,000 total words in the Quran, there are only about 14,868 unique words. Even more fascinating is that some of these unique root words are repeated thousands of times throughout the chapters! This realization planted a seed: if someone were to master just this small subset of highly repeated words, they could comprehend the vast majority of the Quran seamlessly.
Inspired by this discovery, I set out to build an application that would help Muslims worldwide understand the Quran in the fastest and easiest way possible. Thus, the Understand Quran app was created. By prioritizing the most frequently used words, accompanied by precise translations in Urdu, English, and Bengali, the app bridges the gap between simple recitation and true, heartfelt comprehension.
